Our 2009 “scooter run” was one of the best ever! The multiple of roller coaster-type roads would rival any amusement park in America.
The 15-day “outing” will cover some of last year’s routes with plenty of new routes to
discover. The roads are spectacular and the southern towns are a delight. Last year’s miles of 100 to 120 per day made for plenty of exploration. We are in the planning stages of the 2010 trip. Those who are interested, upon request, will get an update as we close in on the particulars.
Another highlight will be a visit to the KYMCO USA distribution center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. They have promised a chance to ride their new “stuff”!
Originally, team members rode 50cc scooters. After several tours, we opened the tours to units as large as 200cc. It is critical, no matter the size 50cc to 200cc, that the wheel base, axle to axle, not exceed 55 inches. We are open to larger than a 200cc scooter. However, check with us before riding a scooter larger than 200cc. Any scooter with a wheel base exceeding 55 inches will need to be transported by the rider to and from starting and ending points
Scooter maintenance is becoming more of a problem with the multiple brands and sizes of scooters. To date we have had great success with maintaining the scooters. Most of our replacement parts will be for KYMCO scooters. Make sure you have paid serious attention to the road worthiness of your scooter; tires and transmission are critical. Again, TIRES ARE CRITICAL! DO NOT SKIMP!

The price includes:
- Transporting your motor scooter from Upland, IN to the starting point
- Most breakfasts. Participants will be responsible to buy all other meals.
- Housing, which will be in motels, churches, and campsites
PARTICIPANTS ARE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL INSURANCE COVERAGE.
Optional Expenses: (not included in trail fee)
- Daily spending money (over and above meals you must purchase)
- Scooter repairs - All scooter repair labor will be charged, and repair parts sold, at a fair price. Please be prepared to pay for these when repairs are made.
A note of caution: as innocent as the little scooters appear, they require serious training time. However, the transition from bicycle to scooter is a natural one.
